U.S. History - Grades 7-12
Karen Cook

Class fee $3 per trimester for copies.

Using the textbook The American Republic, Second Edition, published by BJU Press, we will learn about the history of the United States, from the discovery of the New World through the presidency of George W. Bush.

Students will be responsible for reading a chapter each week and reviewing questions at the end of each chapter. There will be one report or project due each trimester, as well as vocabulary words for each unit. A list of suggested historical books will be given to each student, but reading a separate book is not required. During class time we will discuss the week's reading assignment and complete class activities and play games in an effort to make history come alive.

This is a year-long class. There will be homework each week and students will need to complete Unit 3 on their own over the winter break. Completing the weekly reading assignments and completing reports and projects each trimester are requirements for this class.

Students should bring their textbook, paper, pen or pencil, 3-ring binder, and their completed assignments to class each week, and be prepared to participate in all classroom discussions and activities. We will all learn from one another as we share our questions and ideas about the history of our country.
