This class will introduce first to third grade students to the process of writing and enjoying stories. It will start with the basics for beginning writers, then progress into the specifics, beginning with some early story-structure experiences. There will be instruction on creative thinking, creating a plot with a conflict, characterization, setting, the senses, and dialogue. Advanced concepts will also be taught, including showing (as opposed to telling) point of view, metaphors, and similes.
